EU VAT Rate Data API
Enter a country code to get that jurisdiction’s standard rate, reduced rates, currency, EU membership and VAT number format in one call.
We continuously compile the European VAT rates published in the European Commission Taxes in Europe Database (TEDB), cleaning, standardising and relationship-modelling country codes, rate types and VAT number formats, delivered uniformly through a REST API.
No need to hard-code a rate table in your code or watch for rate changes every day.

Rate tables are available everywhere, but they are far from being "ready for a tax system".
The real problem isn't whether the rates exist, but how to turn public rates scattered across member states and adjusted frequently by policy into standardised data your business systems can fetch in one call and track over time.
-
01
Data is scattered
Standard rates, reduced rates and VAT number formats differ across the EU-27, the UK, Switzerland and the Nordics, so your systems have to stitch them together.
-
02
Frequent rate changes
Finland at 25.5%, Slovakia at 23% and Romania at 21% are all recent changes; policy shifts need continuous tracking, and a hard-coded rate table goes stale very quickly.
-
03
Hard to query programmatically
The official rates are published as tables and documents; getting rates, currencies and VAT number formats in bulk by country code means doing your own parsing and modelling, with no direct system integration.
-
04
Maintenance costs keep piling up
Rate adjustments, new rates taking effect and VAT number rule changes all require long-term engineering effort, and missed updates easily cause tax calculation errors.

This data can flow into your real cross-border business processes
Not another back office to open, but VAT rates where pricing, checkout, invoicing and filing actually happen.
Cross-border e-commerce sellers
Use the correct rate by destination country during pricing and checkout, calculate VAT due under OSS / IOSS correctly and avoid tax errors and audit risk.
Overseas warehouses / FBA service providers
Manage the rates that apply to multi-country stock and show sellers the standard / reduced rates and filing points for each warehouse country.
Tax agents / tax SaaS
Integrate country rates and VAT number formats into filing and bookkeeping systems, updated automatically as policy changes.
Tax calculation / ERP vendors
Integrate standard / reduced rates as standard fields in your tax module and drop rate table maintenance.
Payment / checkout system integrators
Calculate VAT in real time on the checkout page based on the buyer’s country, producing tax-inclusive prices and invoices.
Data comes from European Commission published rates, organised item by item
The following is based on the European Commission Taxes in Europe Database (TEDB)2026 Compiled from the published European VAT rates; this is not a live feed and the field structure matches real rate entries.

The value of an API is more than "returning the rate table to you"
GooFuture's core value lies before the data reaches the API: turning public rates set by individual member states and changing with policy into a VAT rate data model that is program-friendly, linkable and maintainable.
Multiple fields in one response
Aggregates standard, reduced, super-reduced and parking rates with currencies and VAT number formats into a single rate record, cutting repeated queries.
Four rate types → one recordCountry code normalisation
Unifies the different country names and codes used across jurisdictions so systems can match them.

The questions worth confirming before integrating an EU VAT rate data API
Straight answers on public rates, country code matching, update frequency and commercial integration.
The rates are public — why do I still need this API?
If you only need to check one country occasionally, the official European Commission channel is enough. GooFuture is built for teams that need bulk lookups, system integration, unified fields and continuous updates — aggregating public rates scattered across jurisdictions into a VAT rate record you can get in one call.
Where does the data come from?
Data comes from the European VAT rates published in the European Commission Taxes in Europe Database (TEDB), covering the EU-27 plus non-EU European jurisdictions such as the UK, Switzerland and Norway. GooFuture collects, cleans, standardises, links and aggregates the raw rates and delivers them via API.
How often is the data updated?
EU rates are set by member states and change with policy, and the Commission database is continuously updated. We sync after each rate change; see the API documentation for exact timing. The samples on this page are rates in effect in 2026.
Which fields are returned for a country code?
The lookup-by-country API returns country name, currency, EU membership, tax name (e.g. Mehrwertsteuer / MwSt), standard rate, reduced rates, super-reduced rate, parking rate, VAT number format and validation regex, data version and update time.
What is the difference between standard, reduced, super-reduced and parking rates?
The standard rate applies to most goods and services (roughly 17%–27% across the EU); reduced rates apply to food, books, medicines and similar (e.g. 7% in Germany); the super-reduced rate applies only in a few countries and only to essentials (e.g. 2.1% in France); and the parking rate is a transitional rate retained by some countries (e.g. Belgium, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta and Portugal). The API returns the exact type per jurisdiction.
How are you different from the official rate publishers?
The official rates are published as tables and documents, one jurisdiction at a time, with no direct system integration. GooFuture parses the rates, normalises country codes and standardises rate types into a single call, with batch lookup and continuous sync. All raw data comes from public sources.
Can I integrate the data into my own checkout / ERP / tax product?
Yes. The API can be used in internal systems and integrated into checkout, invoicing, cross-border e-commerce and tax SaaS products; commercial usage is governed by the applicable plan and service agreement.
How do I find a country’s current standard rate?
Pass a country code (such as DE or FR) to the lookup-by-country API to get the current standard rate, reduced rates and currency, so systems can calculate tax automatically by destination country.
You no longer hard-code a rate table or watch policy changes every day.
From collecting the public rates to country code normalisation, rate type standardisation and VAT number format linking — we handle it all. Your systems just call the API.
